Sponsored by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) nd in close cooperation with the Carpathian Ecoregion Initative (CERI) ibn developed a database of biodiversity related data, called Carpathian Biodiversity Information System (CBIS). This compilation of data on species abundance, vegetation units and potential threats for orthographic units of the Western Carpathians allows to develop proposals for a network of protected areas in the region.
